Company Overview
The founders of the Threshold had a profound yet clear vision when they decided to call their fledgling organization the Threshold in 1963. This would be an agency that would indeed be the threshold, or entryway, to a new world of opportunity and full inclusion for Washington County's citizens with disabilities. No longer would they be forced to live in institutions or be denied an education, employment opportunities, true friendship, and meaningful community involvement.

That vision drives this organization more strongly today than ever, as we work to create a community that values the unique gifts that each has to share, regardless of differences.

The Threshold operates several distinct programs to achieve the mission to "Create opportunities for individuals with disabilities to live fulfilling lives."

Early Intervention Services
Early childhood education and therapy are provided to children from birth to age three who are experiencing significant developmental delays or disabilities.

Long-Term Support
This day service program assists adults with more significant physical, cognitive, or behavioral disabilities in gaining skills of independent living, socialization, supported employment, and community involvement. The emphasis of the program is to provide individualized opportunities within three distinct areas:

  • Adult Day Services- is designed to provide support to those clients whose capabilities suggest outcome goals in areas other than employment.
  • Special Services- meets the needs of adults who have sustained a traumatic brain injury and is designed to address both short and long-term rehabilitation goals after discharge from sub-acute settings.
  • Senior Day Services- provides a meaningful alternative for elderly citizens with development disabilites no longer desiring a work setting.
Vocational Services
Meaningful work is a primary objective for most adults. Employment opportunities are created for each individual following appropriate assessment, planning, and training. Employment placements may be made with area employers throughout the county or may be made within the commercial business enterprises of the Threshold. Supportive staff help assure successful long-term outcomes.

Business Enterprises
The Threshold operates two businesses that provide numerous training and employment opportunities while generating revenues that help support mission services.
  • TTI Industries- provides sub-contract manufacturing assistance to area industries. As an ISO certified supplier this division specializes in assembly, packaging, inspection, and fulfillment.
  • Clean Sweep- is a full service custodial business with the ability to provide general cleaning as well as specialized services including all types of floor care and post-contruction clean-up.
