The nation's leading safety advocate for more than 100 years, the National Safety Council is a nonprofit membership organization with the mission to save lives by preventing injuries and deaths at work, in homes and communities, and on the road through leadership, research, education and advocacy. Working to make the world measurably safer, NSC advances this mission by engaging businesses, government agencies, elected officials and the public to help prevent the fifth leading cause of death in the U.S. – unintentional injuries.
The Council is data driven, relying on research to inform best practice solutions to safety issues. To make the greatest impact, NSC focuses on where the most preventable injuries and deaths occur - cell phone use while driving, teen driving, workplace safety, prescription painkiller use and safety in the community. As a catalyst for behavior change, NSC promotes April as Distracted Driving Awareness Month and June as National Safety Month.
Acknowledged as the go-to source for safety, NSC provides a variety of educational opportunities – many through NSC University – including First Aid, Workplace Safety and Driver Safety courses, and is a leading source of occupational safety information through Safety+Health® magazine. The NSC Congress & Expo brings together the world's largest annual gathering of safety professionals. Through the Safe Communities America program, NSC certifies communities with rigorous safety initiatives.
The Campbell Institute at the Council is the global center of excellence for environmental, health and safety and collaborates with top performing organizations to share research and best practices widely across industries. The Council recognizes organizations that have focused on safety as a critical part of their operations with the prestigious Robert W. Campbell Award®
Celebrating significant safety achievements, NSC presents the Green Cross for Safety® award for safety excellence, innovation and advocacy. The highest safety recognition for individuals is the Council's Distinguished Service to Safety Awards, given annually.
NSC uses the concept of the Journey to Safety Excellence® as a roadmap for organizations to continuously improve their safety practice to ensure zero harm. A 501c3 nonprofit, chartered by Congress with local Chapters and global networks, and more than 50,000 members, NSC is committed to helping keep people safe wherever they are.

NSC cares about the safety, health and overall well-being of our employees. We offer competitive benefits, resources and tools to promote a work-life balance that supports employees during all phases of their life.
We offer three plan choices for employees and their dependents to best meet their needs. All plans include:
We offer two plan options with 100% coverage for preventive and routine cleaning visits. Dental plans also offer coverage for various dental needs such orthodontia services as well as minor/major dental work.
We offer a company paid basic vision plan, which covers annual exams at no fee to our employees and their families. We also offer a supplemental plan, which employees can elect for lens, frames and contact lens coverage.
Life Insurance and Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) Insurance
To protect employees and their families in the event of death or serious injury, NSC provides a company paid basic life and AD&D. Eligible employees have the option (for an additional fee) to select additional life insurance and/or AD&D insurance if it meets their needs.
Short-Term and Long-Term Disability Insurance
NSC provides eligible employees basic short-term and long-term disability insurance with the option to purchase additional long-term disability insurance if interested.
Flexible Spending Accounts
We offer a healthcare flexible spending account and a dependent care flexible spending account to allow individuals to pay for eligible healthcare expenses (including many over-the-counter medications) and dependent care expenses (including child and elder care) on a pre-tax basis, which helps reduce income taxes.
We offer eligible employees a 403(b) retirement plan with a company match, dollar for dollar, up to 6%. Employees can elect to change their contribution amounts at any time.
We know that our employees have interests and obligations including work so we provide employees with opportunities to help manage their work and home life.
We offer annual flu shots and wellness screening as well as a community atmosphere with "lunch and learn" sessions.
