Description

JOB SUMMARY:

Assists with the launch of new products and the continuous improvement of existing products by contributing to the design and development of manufacturing processes that meet cost, quality, delivery and safety goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Applies advanced understanding of engineering principles, such as mechanics, metallurgy, thermodynamics, statistics, and physics, and established methodologies to perform defined portions of broader engineering projects, within cost, quality, delivery, and safety constraints.
  • Gathers and analyzes information to skillfully develop process improvements and alternate solutions.
  • Plans, schedules, and coordinates engineering projects using project management tools.
  • Prepares project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends. Makes strategic recommendations for future actions.
  • Applies lean and Six Sigma methodologies to identify, support, and lead process variation, continuous improvement, and waste reduction projects.
  • Evaluates process effectiveness using statistical methodologies.
  • Updates routings, sketches, and work instructions to account for process changes.
  • Creates complex manufacturing sketches or routings per customer specifications and Company standards.
  • Travels occasionally to meet with and better serve external customers.
  • Documents clear and technically accurate explanations for all project and process changes.
  • Responds to internal customers in a timely manner and supports all efforts to ensure products meet customer requirements.
  • Dispositions product and any rework that may result.
  • Effectively discusses matters related to highly complex projects with Project Engineering Managers, Sales team, production personnel, and other Company stakeholders.
  • Utilizes time management and organizational skills to ensure assigned tasks are completed on time.
  • Proceeds under general supervision.
  • Maintains or exceeds production standards through efficient organization and planning.
  • Demonstrates thorough knowledge and conformity with Ace Precision Quality System work instruction requirements that govern Engineering operations.
  • Follows and complies with safety policies and procedures.
  • Accurately completes all required documentation.
  • Meets attendance policy requirements.
  • Contributes to team effort by assisting in areas as needed.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university is required, with a minimum of 3 years of manufacturing experience; or a Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering or technical manufacturing related studies with a minimum of 7 years of engineering experience. Experience in sheet metal forming, CNC machining, fusion/resistance welding, heat treating/brazing, or 5-axis laser cutting is preferred. Experience in 3D modeling with SolidWorks or other software is required, as well as a strong knowledge of Microsoft Office. Must understand lean and/or Six Sigma methodologies and be able to apply statistical techniques in a manufacturing environment. Six Sigma certification is a plus.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read English and interpret complex sketches, routings, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to communicate effectively with employees and other Company stakeholders. Ability to appropriately respond to technical inquiries from regulatory agencies or other members of the business community. Must possess excellent writing and communication skills. All communications must be thorough and handled with professional expertise.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to utilize mathematical concepts of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and understand their applications.

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Requires considerable initiative and decision-making judgment. Must be detail-oriented, with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, assess priorities to meet deadlines, recognize workflow, and carefully plan short and long-term projects. Results-oriented, self-starter with the ability to think strategically and effectively work as part of a team.
