Job Description

Job Summary:

As our Walsworth - Ripon Third Shift Supervisor, you will have a key role in managing and coordinating the day-to-day activities of 3rd Shift print production operations to process jobs quickly, efficiently and economically through the plant. You will also perform production duties in a regular basis or as needed.

The schedule for this salaried, exempt position is 10:30 PM - 7 AM, Monday through Friday.

Reports to:

Manager, Pressroom and Maintenance

Direct Reports:

3rd shift press personnel

Lean Expectations (at annual performance discussions):

  • Participate in at least two hours of educational experience (s) such as job shadowing, technical skills training, cross training, webinars, seminars, Lean networking tours, etc.
  • Implement at least one improvement idea.

Essential Functions:

  • Plan and monitor production workflow and staff across all of 3rd shift to achieve manufacturing goals
  • Manage staff to meet production and schedule requirements.
  • Manage departmental processes as they impact Key Business Indicators.
  • Coach, train, and motivate team members.
  • Communicate information and policy to team members.
  • Address issues with the assistance of the operators, through the investigation of problem, cause, and resolution.
  • Provide regular reports to management including 2 hour walk documentation to include all staffed 3rd shift areas.
  • Follow and enforce all required safety procedures such as: PPEs, Ergonomics, and Chemical Hazards
  • Inspect and review quality of shift production.
  • Perform production duties on a regular basis.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Walsworth policies and applicable laws.

  • Ability to learn computer applications as necessary for the position.
  • Must successfully complete any training or certification courses required to support or strengthen position.
  • Ability to read, interpret and follow verbal and written instructions, work procedures and other related materials.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including strong customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated advanced proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook and Windows based databases.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift and move materials weighing between 30 and 75 pounds.
  • Must be able to use hands for a variety of repetitive material handling tasks about 90% of an 8-hour shift constantly.
  • Kneel and squat to do work on an occasional basis.
  • Must be able to constantly stand for up to 8 hours.
  • Must be able to climb two flights of stairs (about 23 steps) on a frequent basis.
  • Use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects or use controls, tools or equipment.
  • May require the ability to use a keyboard and other office equipment.
  • May require specific vision abilities that include close vision.
  • May be required to perform concentrated work for extended periods of time.
  • May be required to lift, carry or exert items or objects of reasonable weight.
  • May be required to perform duties beyond standard business hours.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Associate degree in Graphic Arts or a related field and four years' experience in print operations or a related function OR
  • High School Diploma or GED and six years' experience in print operations, a production or manufacturing environment or a related function.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
  • U.S. work authorization required
