Job Description
SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Controller, the Staff Accountant is accountable for the ongoing analysis of process constraints, target costing projects, margin analysis, and tracing costs back to underlying activities. The Staff Accountant will also construct and monitor those cost-effective data accumulation systems needed to provide management with appropriate costing and accounting information.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This list of functions and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.
  1. Planning, studying, and collecting data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory, and labor.
  2. Analyzing changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods, or services provided, to determine effects on cost.
  3. Analyzing actual manufacturing costs and preparing periodic reports comparing estimated costs to actual production costs
  4. Performing and analyzing audits of costs and preparing reports
  5. Making estimates of new and proposed product costs
  6. Providing management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting the profitability of products or services.
  7. Maintaining a Cost Accounting System
  8. Assisting in the Month end close of the General Ledger including the preparation of journal entries. Including ensuring that shop orders are closed appropriately.
  9. Monitoring cycle count program and liaising with the shop concerning inventory and job transactions.
  10. Reconciling raw material, work-in-process, and finished goods inventories as well as the non-cash accounts on the Balance sheet
  11. Conducting inventory reserve analysis monthly
  12. Preparing percentage of completion analysis on applicable orders
  13. Maintaining a fixed asset system
  14. Analyzing capital budgeting requests and monitoring capital expenditures
  15. Analyzing company expenses.
  16. Help with the monthly financial preparation and help with the annual audit process.
  17. Codes invoices, set up new accounts, reconcile accounts, and closes the monthly books.
  18. Assists and completes federal, state, and local filings for tax and regulation as well as Sale Tax.
  19. Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience
  1. A minimum of a BA/BS Degree in Accounting
  2. 3+ years’ experience in cost accounting is preferred. We are willing to train.
  3. Job costing experience is helpful.

  2. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, with advanced proficiency in the use of Excel.

Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to be on site to manage projects. The employee will frequently be required to stand, walk, talk, and hear.  The employee is occasionally required to bend, stoop, balance and move about the facility.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
